KINGDOM PARABLES (BOOK REVIEW)

Kingdom Parables has become a favorite book in our household.  I am not kidding when I tell you I have read this book over 100 times in the past year.  Not only does Owen love listening to it, I love reading it using different voices for all the characters.  The book contains 6 Bible Parable stories rewritten in an extraordinary way using animal characters.  Each rewritten parable is interesting, fun, full of truth and good character.  The illustrations of the book are also fantastic and captivating!  We love the cleverness and creativity of each story.  For example, one of the parables uses a town of dogs named "Poochville," and in the town there is a "Dog Tired Inn" and they use "biscuits" as their currency.  Another story begins with a bear that had made his fortune in honey, "in fact, he had so much money that he was a true millionbear."  However, we learn through the story that "selling honey can be sticky business."  There are so many clever aspects to the book, you will just have to read it too!

The Bible parables used in this book are:

The Unmerciful Servant ("...you should have had mercy o your fellow servant...")
The Prodigal Son ("...this son of mine was dead and is alive again...")
The Workers in the Vineyard ("...the last will be first, and the first will be last...")
The Good Samaritan ("...when he saw him, he felt compassion...")
The Persistent Widow ("...he will see that they get justice...")
The Great Banquet ("...blessed are those who will eat at the great feast that I have prepared...")

I love books that capture the attention of little ones and communicate God's truth to them in an exciting way.  If you are looking for a fun read-aloud book for your child (3-8 years old) I highly recommend this one!
