We are saving up for a goat!

That's right, we are saving up to buy a goat!

For the past few months God has put it on my heart to buy a goat for a family in need. The goat is $70, so we are saving our money in a jar till we are able to purchase a goat. We will be purchasing this goat through the ministry of Samaritan's Purse and the goat will be given to a family living in poverty. On their website it explains how a goat can help a family.  It says,  "A dairy goat is a barnyard blessing for a family suffering from malnutrition and poverty. These hardy creatures supply plenty of milk to drink or to make cheese, yogurt, or butter. Besides that, the sale of any extra can generate much needed income."

Samaritan's Purse has also created a video about how dairy goats can make a profound difference in the lives of those who are hurting and lost.

One way that I am saving up for a goat this season is by selling my homemade vanilla extract. Each bottle of vanilla that I sell for $10, I am putting 20% of the profit toward buying a goat. This last weekend I was able to sell some of my vanilla extract at a bizarre, which was very exciting. I only have 6 bottles of vanilla left!  Each 4 ounce bottle of vanilla extract has been steeping for over four months.  It contains brandy and high quality Madagascar vanilla beans. When it gets a little low, you simply add more non-flavored brandy to extend the vanilla. You can get up to 12 ounces of vanilla or more from each bottle.

If you are interested in buying a bottle of vanilla to help contribute toward buying a goat let me know.
